Dr. Carcara’s educational qualifications are unique. He has excelled at all levels of his academic training, finishing at the top of his class from high school through orthodontic training. As valedictorian of his high school class, Dr. Carcara became a Garden State Distinguished Scholar. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1992 from Fairleigh Dickenson University, graduating Summa Cum Laude at the top of his class. He earned a full scholarship to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) where he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree (D.M.D.) in 1995 as a Presidential Scholar and graduated with honors. While attending UMDNJ, he earned numerous awards some of which include the New Jersey Dental School Student Leadership and Distinguished Service Award for his leadership contributions as a member of the student government and community dental outreach programs. In addition, he was awarded the distinction of election into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) and Gamma Pi Delta national dental honor societies.
Prior to becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Carcara completed a one-year general practice residency-training program in all aspects of general dentistry including implants, restorative dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, periodontics, and oral surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Dr. Carcara completed his specialty training in orthodontics at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine in 1998. In addition, he served as a predoctoral instructor in orthodontics, dental anatomy, occlusion, and National Board Exam tutorials. While at SUNY Buffalo, Dr. Carcara also attended the Graduate School of Oral Medicine where he received his Master of Science Degree in Orthodontics and Oral Biology. Dr. Carcara’s research on long-term retention of orthodontic treatment has been published in the orthodontic literature and cited in lectures worldwide.

In private practice since 1998, Dr. Carcara is Board Certified in Orthodontics and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, which is the only certifying board recognized for the specialty of orthodontics by the American Dental Association. He is also a member of several national and local dental organizations including the American Association of Orthodontists, the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, the Bergen County Dental Society, and the Pascack Valley Dental Study Club. As a former orthodontic patient, Dr. Carcara not only understands his patients’ needs and concerns but also personally appreciates the wonderful benefits of a healthy and beautiful smile. Dr. Carcara combines his experience and education with the latest in orthodontic technology to create a comfortable and relaxed setting. The result is a modern and refreshingly friendly approach to orthodontic treatment that makes his practice unique.
A lifelong resident of Bergen County, Dr. Carcara is proud to practice in the Pascack Valley. When he is not practicing orthodontics, Dr. Carcara enjoys his other passion in life - his family. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in the area with their daughters, Nicolette & Giada. They enjoy taking advantage of all the region has to offer including the local parks, golf courses, and restaurants. In addition, they enjoy taking trips to New York City, the Jersey Shore, and the countryside of upstate New York and Pennsylvania. In addition, those who know Dr. Carcara or who have been to his office are well aware of his love for baseball, sports memorabilia, and the New York Yankees. He and his wife enjoy going to baseball games and look forward to making an avid baseball lover out of their daughter as well. Dr. Carcara also enjoys drawing, photography, and playing golf.
